Buzz grew up in St. Paul, MN and played baseball and Basketball at Cretin-Derham Hall. Buzz followed NCAA Hall of fame Coach Dennis Denning to The University of St. Thomas. He was a four year starter and in his senior year was the first Tommie to be named to USA Today DIII First team All-American team. He was drafted in the 31st round by the Philadelphia Phillies. Buzz went on to play 9 seasons professionally and played primarily 2B, SS, and 3B. Buzz played a season at AAA with Shawn Wooten in Scranton, PA. They were fast friends and both were entrenched with the same baseball beliefs: Hard work, be a great teammate, respect the game, and play hard!
After Buzz’s professional career was over he returned to his alma mater, St. Thomas where he joined Dennis Denning’s staff for three seasons. His last year coaching at the NCAA level St. Thomas won the National Championship in 2009. Buzz served as 3rd base coach/ bench coach. Buzz is still playing at age 39 and his Rochester Royals made it to the Class B State Tournament. Buzz is lucky he married Sara Hannahan who loves baseball. He also has three daughters; Lily 13 tennis guru, Helena 11 Softball and gymnastics star, and Bea 8 a true performer. Buzz and Sara can’t wait to see them grow up and follow their dreams. Buzz currently works for CareFusion-BD. He is a Director over the Medication management portfolio where he works with his team to drive patient safety across the mid-west.
